The accident rate as a serious social problem requires a comprehensive and effective solution showing signs of a well-coordinated and targeted action of all interested entities and institutions, with a wide support of the public.
The National Road Safety Plan for the 2nd half-year, with outlook until 2010, in the Slovak Republic was drawn up with this specific intention. It is a basic document, containing the framework of activities and measures to minimize the loss of life and reduce material damages.
Measures
Road Safety Department was created in year 2004 as the part of the organizational structure of the Ministry of Transport, Posts and Telecommunications of the Slovak Republic.
Road Safety Department is mostly responsible for an execution of the measures of the National Road Safety Plan for the 2nd half-year 2005 with outlook until 2010 which is strategic document in the area of road safety in the Slovak Republic.
